This one day session provided information, guidelines, and training for those parents new to Schools Under Registration Review (SURR) teams and served as a refresher to some who had prior experience with such reviews. In addition, those who were most experienced in working on SURR teams shared their knowledge about challenges with the group. Lastly, the NYCC in conjunction with experts from the New York State Education Department (NYSED) and the New York City Department of Education (NYCDOE) described their particular roles and the procedures designed to make the SURR process function smoothly and efficiently.
