eLearning
The New York Comprehensive Center eLearning team works with the New York State Education Department (NYSED) to strengthen and support their leadership role related to the use of educational technology in the state. The work of the Department and the eLearning team is closely aligned with national and state legislation which includes No Child Left Behind (NCLB), Article VII under the NYS Education Law Section 211-d and the state's "P–16 Education: A Plan for Action." Additionally, the work of the eLearning initiative is based on the assessed needs and priorities of the Department.
Objectives
The goal of the eLearning initiative work is to support NYSED as they define their leadership role related to educational technology. The team also works to build the capacity of NYSED by contributing research and information on technology in education that guides the development of a statewide Educational Technology Plan within New York State.
The NYCC eLearning Team continues to provide support to NYSED on the use of educational technology by:
- accessing and presenting resources, research and information from federally funded Regional Content Centers on how other states and organizations use technology
- identifying various technology tools that support the delivery of information across the Internet
- identifying professional development needed to effectively integrate identified best practices
