Mathematics

The Mathematics initiative team assists the New York State Education Department (NYSED) in identifying research-based strategies and practices that improve overall student outcomes in mathematics. These strategies and practices help to inform and strengthen mathematics assessments, interventions and instruction.

Objectives

The NYCC Mathematics initiative:

  • Enhances the capacity of the New York State Education Department (NYSED) to identify students who need academic intervention services (AIS)
  • Compiles protocols with demonstrated effectiveness for use as an AIS model in districts throughout New York State
  • Supports NYSED in creating effective mathematics intervention for all struggling students
  • Builds the capacity of NYSED to provide effective mathematics professional development that increases student achievement.
