Educator Effectiveness
Formerly called the Teacher Quality Team, the objectives of the Educator Effectiveness Team are to support and build the New York State Education Department’s (NYSED’s) capacity to develop and implement policies and procedures that support the goals of Race To The Top (RTTT) for high academic achievement of students and increased rigor in the preparation of teachers for SIG, Turnaround, and all schools.
Objectives
To assist the New York State Education Department (NYSED) in meeting these requirements, the objectives of the Educator Effectiveness initiative are to:
- Collaborate and assist NYSED in disseminating information to and building the knowledge base of colleges and universities that have teacher preparation programs about changing certification requirements for new teachers beginning in 2013;
- Support the goals of Race To The Top (RTTT) and New York State Education Department’s (NYSED’s) efforts to enhance the college readiness of high school students in SIG, Turnaround and all schools; and
- Work with New York State Education Department (NYSED) Senior Leadership to develop a “Think Tank” to explore policies and regulations at the state level to validate and synchronize on-line program coursework leading to the issuance of degrees and state certifications.
The Educator Effectiveness Team has recently supported NYSED by providing background information in such areas of current concern as clinically rich undergraduate teacher preparation programs and the present state of teacher induction programs around the country. The Team looks forward to continuing their support of NYSED goals in Year 7 of the New York Comprehensive Center.
